Speedway Handmade Bicycle Works!

Today, Monday May 19th is the beginning of a new period in my life. I have secured a retail building that is on Main Street in Speedway Indiana. It is located 3 blocks North of Zipp Speed Weaponry and about 2 blocks South of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This new space will house four separate business entities: Speedway Handmade Bicycle Works, To the Rail!, Don Walker Cycles, and the NAHBS hq. Lots of work is to be done, including new flooring. We are planning on a mid June opening.

Speedway Handmade Bicycle Works is a full service bicycle shop offering professional fitting and handmade custom frames. Brands such as Independent Fabrication, Della Santa, Crumpton and Don Walker will start our lineup. We are currently looking to add 2 more highly sought after brands to be the first shop to offer ONLY handmade bicycles. Road, Track and Mountain bikes will be the focus of our shop. Riders are always welcome to stop in as we will have snacks and coffee/espresso/cappuccino available during regular hours.

NAHBS will have an office at this location as well, making it possible to leave our cramped home-office location and expand our service to its clientele.

To the Rail! is a track equipment store/source for the blossoming Indianapolis track and fixie scene and beyond. Since no one in town specializes in track equipment, I am filling the void for this highly specialized sport. Look for our website soon!

Don Walker Cycles is moving its manufacturing to the new location as well. We will be able to leave our cramped quarters for a roomier, more accommodating and better climate controlled shop. We will be closed during the move, but anticipate 100% production by mid June.

We hope you will be as excited to see this new shop, location and business in Speedway, Indiana!
We'll keep you informed on our Grand Opening date!

Not the big announcement, but still pretty cool!

Even framebuilders have bikes other than their own. I have dreamed of owning a Della Santa since I was 15 years old. 26 years later and that dream is a reality. This is the beginning of my personal collection. I will have many, many more shots of it when its built. DW

Stay Tuned! Major Announcement Coming Soon!

Just as the title says. Within 10-14 days, I will be making a major announcement.
Will it be good? Of course! It will be a wonderful thing for all involved.

LMAO

I opened the door to this today.... It really made me laugh. Only in Speedway Indiana would you be able to see this on a regular basis, plus it lets you know its racing season.... DW

Specials and other stuff.

Whilst trying to clear the shop of the mess that it has become, I stumbled across quite a few things.
1. I have 3 sets (Sold one already!) of Columbus Max tubing with lugs, BB and crown. These are not "for sale" as tubes only, but as a completed custom frames to your measurements. $1900 with 1 color paint with contrasting panels, includes matching Max bladed steel fork. Could be road or track, your choice.
2. A set of Tange Prestige OS tubing and SS Newvex (Richard Sachs design) lugs, with LS SS track crown. I can polish the crown and head lugs only on this deal. Made to your spec's for $1799 and painted 1 color with contrasting panel. Track only.
3. I have 2 True Temper Velo kits. These would be fillet brazed, one color with contrasting panel.. No fork included, but can obtain almomst any fork you like or build a steel fork for $200 extra. Completely to your measurements. $1799, track or single speed only.
4. I have 1 set of Deda Zero and a set of Paramount lugs. (pics coming soon) Made to your measurements with a single color and contrasting panels, track $1650, road $1750. Perfect for a larger or heavier rider.

The build list is looking like this at the moment, in order.
James, Jim, Josh, Nate, Jack, Gary, Les, Russ, John L. myself road, myself tandem.
